PLAYER Q&A: KJ Stroud

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - As the Wildcats get prepared for the biggest game of the season so far, taking on Miami, Saturday at Sun Life Stadium, B-CU Sports Information's Dan Ryan got a chance to chat with senior wide receiver KJ Stroud before the week's final practice.

Stroud has come on strong in his senior campaign, running with the second highest receiving totals behind Eddie Poole. Both of them came down from Rutgers, after having current B-CU Head Coach Brian Jenkins as their position coach with the Scarlet Knights. So far on the year, Stroud has logged six catches for 83 yards and a 13.8 yards per catch average.

Since you're from Brooklyn, the first question has to be: What's the best pizza in New York?

In Bayridge, there's a place called Rocky's on 86th and Third. Everyone talks about Lombardi's, but I've never had it.

Since Jon Stewart made a big deal about Donald Trump doing it, is it really a sin to eat pizza with a fork?

If I saw someone do that, I would probably laugh at them. Who eats pizza with a fork?  The thing about Daytona Beach is, you can't just order a slice, you have to order the whole pie. I finally found one place you can and it turned out the owner was from New Jersey, so he knew what he was talking about.

Is there any difference between northeast football and southeast football?

Big difference. Down here it's all about speed, speed, speed. Up north, it's all size. There's speed, but there are bigger guys playing the game.

What's the greatest catch you've made and the greatest catch you've seen?

The one I made last week against South Carolina State was probably the best I've made. As far as someone else, Evan Spencer of Ohio State made a one-handed catch that was pretty neat in week one this season.

You are the oldest in your family and you have younger sisters. They say you are very overprotective of them. Would you allow any of your teammates to date them?

No. No. No...wouldn't allow ANYONE on this team to date ANY of my sisters.

They also say you like to have your picture taken. What's up with that?

I think I look pretty good Why not have your picture taken?

This was 9/11 anniversary week. What were your thoughts this week?

I was in sixth grade when the Twin Towers went down. I saw it from outside my classroom. My dad and stepmom worked in lower Manhattan. It was a hard thing to overcome.  I'm thankful how New York bounced back and is standing tall now.

At both games this year, you're one of the first into the stands to meet/greet with fans. How important is that?

I really appreciate what they've done for us this season. We have support. Travelling to Orlando or six hours to South Carolina, you can't take that for granted.
