DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman dropped a 5-2 decision to Missouri- Kansas City Thursday afternoon at City Island Courts.
Leonardo Lima and Moritz Pronath won at Nos. 5 and 6 singles for Bethune-Cookman, who slipped to 12-10 while the defending Summit League champions improved to 6-8.
Doubles play set the tone for the rest of the day when the Wildcats dropped two of the three contests in hard-fought tiebrekers.
“That kind of took the flame out of us to lose like that and play so well,” said B-CU Head Coach Tim Pleasant. “We could not lift ourselves back up to pull out four singles wins.”
Lima won his fourth straight match to improve to 12-7 on the season.
B-CU returns to action next Thursday at UCF.
