B-CU Tennis Set For Final Weekend of Regular Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Bethune-Cookman tennis teams conclude their regular season this weekend that includes key Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matches.

Both teams will face South Carolina State Friday and Florida A&M Saturday, with the latter serving as Senior Day for both squads. The Lady Wildcats will conclude the weekend against Florida Gulf Coast Sunday in the regular season finale.

MEN'S TEAM UPDATE

The Wildcats (12-13 overall,1-1 MEAC) will try to snap a four-match losing streak. They've assured themselves of a berth in next week's conference tournament, but are looking to improve their seeding.

South Carolina State (10-3,2-1) has won eight of the last nine conference championships. Florida A&M (8-10,2-1) has won four of its last five matches.

 Leonardo Lima leads the team with a 14-8 singles record, followed by Moritz Pronath at 12-8. The doubles combination of Diego Garavito/Santiago Lobelo is 15-8.

WOMEN'S TEAM UPDATE

The Lady Wildcats (13-9,3-1) have been idle since a 6-1 setback at Georgia Southern April 3.

B-CU could generate a three-way tie for first place in the MEAC Southern Division if its sweeps the Lady Bulldogs (11-4,5-1) and Florida A&M (6-11,3-2). North Carolina Central (11-4 overall)  has concluded league play with a 5-1 mark.

Gaby Chinchilla (14-6) has won her last eight matches and has combined with Chinatsu Kajiwara for six consecutive doubles victories. Shereen Peterson-Paul is 11-6 on the season.
