DAVIDSON, N.C. - Coming off the big win, 27-14 at South Carolina State, the early returns on player awards are starting to hit, and for the second straight week, a pair of Wildcats are receiving recognition for their efforts from College Football Performance Awards (CFPA).
Following up last week's honorees, Brodrick Waters (FCS QB Honorable Mention) and Jarkevis Fields (FCS LB Honorable Mention), defensive end LeBrandon Richardson and cornerback Dion Hanks each were listed as Honorable Mention FCS performers at their respective positions.
Richardson tallied five tackles (four solo) against the Bulldogs, with two solo sacks and two tackles for loss. Hanks proved to be a huge factor in containing SCSU's high-yardage passing attack, collecting one tackle with two key interceptions, including the drive-ender in the endzone on SCSU's last stand.
The Wildcats (2-0, 1-0 MEAC) return to south Florida and Miami Gardens to face the Miami Hurricanes. In last year's loss, the Wildcats led UM all but moments of the first half and maintained a one-score game until just before the fourth quarter.
