FT. MYERS, Fla. -- Bethune-Cookman's Ryan Fricker tied for runner-up honors Monday at the Cobra-Puma Invitational while the Wildcats were edged by Penn State by one shot for second place in the team competition.
Host Florida Gulf Coast swept the awards, winning the team title by 837-856 over the Nittany Lions while Edward Figueroa posted a 54-hole total of 16-under par 200 for a five-shot win over Fricker and Nathan Kerns of Marshall.
B-CU entered the day trailing Penn State by two and shot 285, but Penn State held on with a 286.
The 588 marked the first time B-CU has finished a tournament under par as a team under Head Coach Loritz Clark.
"This is something we can build off," Clark said. "We'll have a sense of urgency to get out and practice and continue this of performance in our next tournament."
Fricker had his best round of the tournament Monday with a 67.
Matthew McKnight also garnered a top ten finish for B-CU, coming in sixth at 210.
Other B-CU scores and finishes include Jamichael Jones (74-74-72 220) tied for 28th, Leon Fricker (76-73-74 223) tied for 39th and Emmanuel Petrich (75-76-75 226) tied for 53rd.
