DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - If he were a college professor, Bethune-Cookman football Head Coach Brian Jenkins would have students quickly realizing there's little-to-no grading curve in his class.
It's both a bye week and the half-way point of the season. So, one of the questions Jenkins fielded at his weekly media luncheon was the obligatory mid-term grade for his team. Answer: "C".
An average grade for a 4-2 record and unblemished Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) mark? We said he was a tough teacher, remember?
"Too inconsistent," Jenkins said. "The first couple of games we did not play good football in the first half and had to fight back. That came back to bite us against Tennessee State."
"We beat Hampton, but we gave up too many yards and had way too many penalties," Jenkins added. "We did play as close to a complete game as we had all season against North Carolina A&T, but had miscues that we had no business committing. We're still a work in progress and will develop that 'C' up to an 'A' eventually."
While there's no game Saturday, it's still business as usual for the Wildcats at practice.
"We're continuing to work on fundamentals and football basics. You can never work on those enough," Jenkins said. "The main thing is concentrating on ourselves. Everything is routine for us...we prepare the same as if we're playing this Saturday."

"The thing about Quentin is that he is a humble young man. He takes coaching well and criticism even better. His performance is a growing performance. It was exciting to see him operate the offense on a high level."
On the recent success of the defensive secondary:
"It's an indication of good coaching and players buying in and playing coverages the way they're supposed to. It shows everyone is one the same page."
