DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman Head Coach Vanessa Blair
announced Wednesday the addition of one new Lady Wildcats player signed to a
National Letter of Intent during the early signing period, with Alea Godfrey
set to join B-CU for the 2013-14 season.
A 6-0 shooting guard from Crosby, Texas' Crosby High
School, Godfrey becomes the first member of the 2013 class to ink an NLI with the
Lady Wildcats. Noted as a two-way player with a scorer's attitude and high
basketball IQ, she joins a B-CU squad that will lose no seniors this year.
“Alea will be an extremely welcome addition to a very
veteran team returning next year,” Coach Blair said. “I'm looking forward to
her ability to score from the outside, and her versatility in being able to rebound
and score inside for a guard her size.”
“She is well-rounded player with a tremendous upside and
a great work ethic,” Blair continued.
In her junior season at Crosby, Godfrey led all scorers
with 19.3 points per game, in addition to topping the team in rebounds (11),
assists (7.2) and steals (4.6) per game. The former District 19-4A Newcomer of
the Year, she is a three-time first team all-district honoree, and earned an
RCS Sports Preseason All-Greater Houston Area selection for her senior season.
