Men's Basketball Gameday: Maryland Eastern Shore

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Bethune-Cookman hopes to regain its shooting touch Monday against UMES at 7:30 p.m.

While nowhere near Northern Illinois' frustrating 4-point first half against Eastern Michigan, B-CU's 3-27 first half Saturday against Delaware State led to the Wildcats' second straight game in which they scored under 20 points in the opening half.

THE CONFERENCE RACE:

Current Standing: T9th (2-4 MEAC, 7-14 overall)

Games Behind: 4.5 behind Norfolk State

If the MEAC tournament were tomorrow: B-CU would face either Florida A&M or North Carolina A&T in the opening round to meet either the 2nd or 3rd seed in the quarterfinals.

B-CU-UMES SERIES

Series: B-CU leads 44-20.

Streak: B-CU has won last two.

Last 10: B-CU 8-2.

NOTE: B-CU hasn't lost to UMES in Daytona Beach since 1/9/02 (74-69)

ABOUT UMES: The Hawks took Florida A&M to the wire Saturday, falling 55-54 to go to 1-14 overall and 1-3 in MEAC play. The lone victory? Delaware State. Kyree Jones leads the scoring with a 13.6 average, followed by Troy Synder at 10.5  For more information, visit www.umeshawks.com

JANUARY JUMP: The Wildcats are 25-15 in January over the past four years. B-CU's last losing January was a 2-5 month in 2008 with the best being 2011's 8-1 mark that was the sixth-best in the nation.

COLEMAN COUNTER: Adrien Coleman has led the Wildcats in scoring in eight of the last nine games ... Marc Mack and Malik Jackson shared the rebound high against Delaware State with five.
