Fricker Ends Run in Eighth Place at NCAA Regional

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman men's golfer Ryan Fricker finished his run at the NCAA Tallahassee (Fla.) Regional on Saturday, firing a final round four-over par 76 to end the individual tournament tied for eighth place among the 10 individual competitors at the Golden Eagles Country Club.

Hailing from Ivybridge, England, freshman Ryan Fricker ended the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a total score of 225. The Englishman carded a four-over par 76 in his final round, matching that of J.T. Poston from Western Carolina.

Fricker ends his first ever NCAA Tournament with scores of 75 (+3), 74 (+2) and 76 (+4) to finish nine-over par for the event. In his eighth place appearance, he sits alongside Trey Rule (Mercer), while finishing a stroke ahead of Sean Bosdosh (Maryland).

Fricker served as the first Wildcats participant in the NCAA Tournament since Phillip Worthington competed as an individual back in 2000. The collegiate rookie ends the 2012-13 campaign with a stroke average just under par, finishing up at 71.9. His scoring average was the lowest on the season for the Loritz “Scooter” Clark led Wildcats.

Daniel Walker of Richmond took the top individual score with a three-day total of 204, allowing him to finish 12-under through the tournament. He now advances to the NCAA Championship scheduled to take place May 28-June 2 at The Capital City Club's Crabapple Course in Atlanta.

The North Florida Ospreys finished as the top team in that portion of the tournament, firing a 54-hole total of 830, allowing them to advance to the NCAA Championship. Joining them in Atlanta from the Tallahassee (Fla.) Regional will be Washington (833), Florida State (836), Georgia Tech (849) and Oklahoma (854). The Sooners earned the final bid as one of the low-five teams after defeating USF in a playoff.
