NORFOLK, Va. - Bethune-Cookman baseball continues to show off a strong academic standard, as officials from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced the honors for the 2013 MEAC Baseball All-Academic Team. The Wildcats tied for the second-highest count in the conference, with 12 squad-members recognized.
One important key for the Wildcats in this recognition is that the twelve honored Wildcats players were out of an eligible 13 possible student-athletes. MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average that have been in residence at the institution for at least one year are eligible for All-Academic accolades; the Wildcats had 14 first-year players on the roster with 13 returning players.
It's just another step in the right direction for Head Coach Jason Beverlin's Wildcats, who also placed 13 of an eligible 18 members on the 2012 MEAC All-Academic Team.
"I congratulate our baseball student-athletes who have maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during this academic school year," said Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas. “In addition to recognizing the student-athletes achievements, I also applaud the athletic academic support staffs, coaching staffs and all persons who contributed to the academic success of these student-athletes."
