B-CU Takes FAMU To Final Match At HBCU Nationals
ATLANTA - Bethune-Cookman challenged Florida A&M's dominance of the HBCU National Tennis Championships this weekend.
The Rattlers won, but the tournament went down the final match as Chidi Gabriel and Admire Mushonga outlasted Moritz Pronath and Gilbert Kibet 8-4 in the "B" doubles.
"They [FAMU] had a look of concern," said B-CU Head Coach Tim Pleasant. "We gave them a run."
Pronath, making his first appearance of the fall, won the "C" flight with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-0 victory over Florida A&M's Temuera Asafu-Adjaye, the top-seed.
"Monitz was a game-time decision," Pleasant said.
Seve Day and Juan Varon advanced to the "A" doubles final, dropping a 8-6 decision to Takura Happy and Salif Kante.
