CARY, N.C. - Kadian Dunkley won the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge Women's 5K run Saturday.
Competing in a steady rain, the senior clocked an 18:39.04 to outdistance North Carolina Central's Amber Brooks by 25 seconds.
Dunkley came in third last week at Embry-Riddle and was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference female runner of the week.
"She is stronger and more aggressive," said B-CU coach Donald Cooper. " I am excited to see how she continues to progress this season."
Hampton won the team competition, while B-CU came in ninth.
Kirsten Taylor came in 30th (21:21.3), followed by Alexys Lewis(43rd, 21:59.1) 43; Morgan Brown (55th, 22:48.0) and Shinell Gordon (70th, 24:00.8)
"The rest of the team continues to develop and improve so we are pleased with that," Cooper said. " This was a great experience for us."
