DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman is ranked 18th in the 2012-13 National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) preseason poll  that was released Friday.

The Lady Wildcats finished the 2011-12 season ranked 18th after finishing second in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament finals that was later aired nationally on ESPNU.

"You could say we're picking up where we left off," said B-CU Head Coach Tony O'Neal. "There are a lot of ways you can approach a national ranking. One is that Bethune-Cookman is regarded as one of the national's elite program. Second is that there are 17 teams ahead of us and we need to put the work in if we are to rise to the top.

"We're capable of competing with the top teams in the nation and strong showings will improve our status  among the nation's best," O'Neal added. "We now have the challenge of consistently bowling at a high level."

Led by senior Staci Hilliard, an experienced B-CU squad will open its 2012-13 season October 19-21 at the Tulane Invitational in New Orleans.
