Coleman, Smith Snag MEAC Weekly Honors

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman forward Adrien Coleman garnered his third Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week awatd while Alex Smith was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.

Coleman, a 6-5 junior from Atlanta, averaged 20 points and 7.5 rebounds in the Wildcats' two games last week. He scored 23 points in a 102-51 victory over Florida Christian as he shot 10-of-2 from the field while also producing seven rebounds and seven assists.

He leads the MEAC in scoring (18.1 points per game) and is third in rebounds (7.5).

Smith, a 6-7 senior from Jacksonville, posted double-doubles in both games. He had 10 points and 14 rebounds against Florida Christian and 13 points and 10 rebounds against Youngstown State.

Smith's 70.7 field goal percentage leads the conference, and he is also ninth in the conference in rebounding with an average of 6.5 per game.

The Wildcats (5-9 overall, 0-1 MEAC) are on holiday break and will return to action January 5th against LSU.
