KENT, Ohio - The Lady Wildcats encountered their first wintry-mix weather conditions of the season as they take on their first opponent of the New Year, traveling to the Rust Belt to take on the Kent State Golden Flashes, looking to fight their way back to the .500 mark to open up the second half of the season.

About the Kent State Golden Flashes
They may be 1-11 on the season, but all the pieces are there for this balanced team to make their move into the win column. They play with a good mix of mid-range and post attacks, but this season has seen most of KSU's scoring coming inside from senior forward Tamzin Barroilhet. She leads the team as the only scorer averaging double digits, with 10.3 PPG. Barroilhet also tops the team in rebounds (6.4) and steals (1.5)

Forward Diamon Beckford and guard Trisha Krewson are also among KSU's scoring leaders, chipping in 8.8 and 8.3 PPG, respectively. Krewson is the Golden Flashes' perimeter shooter, hitting 1.3 threes per game on .349 shooting, while Beckford also leads the team at the free throw line (85.7 percent).

The Golden Flashes have not proven to have great success as an attacking team, logging just 7.4 steals and 1.5 blocks per game, however, teams have done well with an aggressive approach against KSU, who hold an average of 21.9 turnovers per game. KSU opponents collect an average of 10.9 steals and 4.9 blocks per game, with point guard Ashley Evans (4.2) and Barroilhet (3.5) turning the ball over when pressured.

Their low-scoring approach plays into B-CU's favor, averaging just 52.3 points per game. B-CU is 4-1 when holding their opponent under 60.

About the Lady Wildcats
Though Holy Cross ended a three-game win streak for B-CU to close the year, this game presents a great opportunity to get back onto the winning track before the opening of conference play on January 7 at Florida A&M. A win would move B-CU to 6-6 on the year.

Having led B-CU in scoring for seven games and logged double figures in eight, Chastity René Taylor continues to lead the Lady Wildcats charge, averaging 14.1 points per game. She is aided by Amanda Hairston with 11.3 PPG, who also tops the team in rebounds (6.8 RPG) and blocks (1.6 BPG).

However, B-CU's biggest strengths this season have come from their depth and defense. Ten B-CU players see at least 10 minutes per game, with six players scoring at least five per outing and rebounds spread around amongst the roster. B-CU opponents average 21.9 turnovers per game, with B-CU averaging 12.5 steals and 3.7 blocks.
