B-CU Tennis Set For Home Openers

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman’s tennis team will have their home openers this weekend at City Island Courts.

Each team will be in action for four matches, with the men’s squad taking on Florida Southern and Palm Beach Atlantic Friday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.

The women’s team meets Palm Beach Atlantic and Coastal Georgia Saturday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. while the men’s team faces the Citadel and Coastal Georgia.

On Sunday, the Lady Wildcats meet Florida College of Sarasota at 9 a.m. and Florida State College of Jacksonville at 3 p.m.

Both B-CU squads are 0-2.  The men opened their season against nationally ranked Miami and Florida State while the women dropped decisions to UCF and North Florida. The men’s team registered individual match wins when Santiago Lobelo and Diego Garvito took their doubles match against Miami while Seve Day and Juan Varon recorded an 8-6 victory over the Florida State duo of Andres Bucaro/Benjamin Lock, that was ranked 27th in the nation.
