DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - No. 19 Bethune-Cookman University bowling takes to the road again this weekend to compete in the Prairie View A&M Invitational beginning Friday, Feb. 1 at the Bowling International Training and Research Center in Arlington, Texas. The three-day tournament ending Sunday will be streamed live at Bowl.com.

The invitation-only event marks the second year the tournament will take place at the state-of-the-art training facility. Out of the 12 teams that are scheduled to participate, the tourney will play host to 10 teams ranked in the top 20 with five teams ranked 10th or higher, including No. 1 Central Missouri, No. 2 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 6 Nebraska and No. 7 Arkansas State.

"This weekend is pound-for-pound the toughest tournament field that we'll face this year, thus far," expressed B-CU head coach Tony O'Neal. "I will be an opportunity for the young ladies to showcase their talents and prove to other programs that they are among the elite in the country."

The ITRC is the premier bowling facility in the country and possibly the world. It's where research for the bowling industry is performed in regards to balls, lanes, equipment, etc. including robots and other advanced technology. It is the official training center for Team USA and the USA Olympic Jr. Gold Team along with professional bowlers and bowlers from around the world (individuals and teams). The ITRC is also adjacent to the Bowling Hall of Fame and Museum.

This marks the third consecutive weekend Bethune-Cookman is competing in a tournament outside the Sunshine State.

Last weekend, the Cats took part in the nation's largest regular season event - the KU Invitational hosted by Kutztown in Reading, Pennsylvania. B-CU finished the weekend with Traditional wins over nationally-ranked LIU-Brooklyn, as well as Baker wins against such opponents as nationally-ranked Adelphi.

"Again, this is a strong field this weekend and we have a good team," continued O'Neal. "We'll probably be the youngest team in the tournament as well. But at this point in the season, it's all about execution. We have to step up and play."
