Tennis Update: B-CU Teams On Three Match Runs
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Both Bethune-Cookman tennis teams are on three-match winning streaks after each squad downed Lehigh Wednesday.
The Lady Wildcats improved to 10-7 with their 5-2 victory while the Wildcat men are now 11-8 after their 4-1 dispatching of Lehigh.
WOMEN'S TEAM UPDATE
After a pair a 4-3 losses to South Dakota and ASA College, Bethune-Cookman has given up just three points in its last three matches, downing Robert Morris 6-1 and Northern Kentucky 6-0.
Senior Shereen Peterson-Paul has won her last five matches and is 10-3 in singles play this season, including a perfect 8-0 while playing at No. 1.
Gaby Chinchilla is 9-6 in singles play and has also won a team-high 10 matches in doubles play, seven of those with Chinatsu Kajiwara and three with Peterson-Paul.
Newcomer Maria Dimitrova has won three straight to improve to 9-7 on the season.
MEN'S UPDATE
The Wildcats have won six of their last seven matches after a 5-7 start.
Kip Jackson in on a six-match winning streak. He and Gilbert Rotich have a combined 9-4 record while playing at No. 6 singles, a position that has produced 12 victories so far this season. The Wildcats have been their strongest at No. 5 singles (12-4) and also at No. 4 (11-6).
Diego Garavito, Moritz Pronath and Santiago Lobelo are each 10-5 on the season. The Lobelo/Garavito doubles combination is 11-6 and has won three straight.
