Women's Tennis Outlasts Marist 4-3
ORLANDO -- Bethune-Cookman outlasted Marist 4-3 Tuesday afternoon for its fifth victory in its last six matches.
The Lady Wildcats (12-8) swept all three doubles matches for the first point, but Marist won three of the first five singles matches to the tie the score at three.
The deciding point came down to Chinatsu Kajiwara at No. 1 singles, who gave B-CU the victory with a 6-2,1-6,6-4 decision over Karly Pang.
“Chinatsu is coming back from a severe ankle injury and this was an awesome way for her to get back into action,” said B-CU Head Coach Tim Pleasant. “The doubles play was real tight and was key to the team victory.”
Victoria Galyaeva and Gaby Chinchilla also registered singles victory for the Lady Wildcats. Chinchilla won her sixth consecutive match to improve to 12-6 on the year.
B-CU returns to action March 24 at Georgia Southern.
