Men's Tennis Gameday: #17 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman faces 17th-ranked Florida Wednesday afternoon at Linder Stadium at the Ring Tennis Complex. Action starts at 1:30 p.m.

The Wildcats (12-12) have face two nationally-ranked teams at the start of the season -- #65 Miami and #32 Florida State. Both results were 7-0 setbacks, but B-CU won a doubles match each time.

Both teams are gearing up for the final weekend of regular season play. B-CU will host South Carolina State and Florida A&M in a pair of key Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matches Friday and Saturday while the Gators (11-9) have a pair of nationally ranked Southeastern Conference teams -- #8 Kentucky and #14 Vanderbilt – coming to Gainesville this weekend.

B-CU UPDATE: The Wildcats have lost three straight and four of their last five. Doubles plays has been strong as of late – B-CU has taken the doubles point in six of its last eight matches. Senior Leonardo Lima has won his last six matches and leads the team with a 14-7 singles mark. The doubles team of Santiago Lobelo and Diego Garavito is 15-7.

ABOUT UF: The Gators are coming off a 4-3 loss to Mississippi Sunday. Florent Diep, who plays No. 2 singles and Bob van Overbeek, who plays No. 3 singles, are ranked 102 and 117 in the ITA.
