Wildcats Open Competition Thursday at Kansas Relays
LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats venture into new territory this weekend, traveling to the 86th Annual Kansas Relays, making the first regular season meet in the Midwest since Head Coach Donald Cooper took the helm of the program.
The Wildcats will travel 23 athletes for competition in 32 events at one of the most historical and populated events of the outdoor season; the largest of the season in the Midwest, taking place at KU’s historical Memorial Stadium and other locations around Lawrence from Wednesday to Saturday. The Wildcats will begin their competition with Thursday’s events.
In addition to the B-CU competition, the meet is host to one of the largest high school competitions in the region, giving the B-CU coaches a first-hand look at new territory in the recruiting world.
“Our training is going exactly where it needs to be,” Cooper said. “We anticipate a few of those athletes going out to have some really good performances and making Bethune-Cookman look very good.”
Coach Cooper sat down to preview this weekend’s Kansas Relays meet early in the week. Watch the video below.
