Softball Game Day: North Carolina A&T

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman looks to maintain its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Southern Division lead as it hosts North Carolina A&T for a three-game series this weekend.

Saturday’s double-header starts at 1 p.m. and Sunday’s series finale goes at noon.

The Wildcats (11-30 overall, 5-0 MEAC) had last weekend off and are returning to league play after sweeping South Carolina State two weekends ago.

THE BIG PICTURE: The Wildcats lead Florida A&M (4-2) by a game and a half.  The Rattlers travel to North Carolina Central (1-7) while Savannah State (5-4) and South Carolina State (4-5) have this weekend off.

ABOUT NORTH CAROLINA A&T: The Aggies (6-26,4-5) took two out three from Savannah State last weekend.   Sabrina Edmonds is hitting .388 with six home runs and 22 RBI, while Tranea Jones and Kimberly Brunson are each hitting .333. Shelby Snyder paces the pitching with a 4-3 record and 4.40 ERA

WILDCAT UPDATE: B-CU has lost its last games, both non-conference by a combined three runs. The Wildcats are 37-7 in conference regular season games the past three seasons. Aurelia Gamch has taken over the lead for team batting average (.311) while Calesha Shelley and Kelsey Rodney each have an 11-game hitting streak going.
