Golf Channel to Highlight PGA Minority Championships
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Golf Channel is holding a special one-hour highlight show Wednesday, July 3, at 9 p.m. (EST) showcasing the 2013 PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship, of which the men’s and women’s Division I titles were won by Bethune-Cookman University. For the third consecutive year, Brown Capital Management was the sponsor of the 27th annual event held in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
The highlight show will feature clips and exciting moments, player interviews and features on the participating individuals and schools across four divisions (I, II, III and NAIA).
“This show will recap all divisions and the accomplishments of everyone at a great event like the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championships,” said B-CU head coach Loritz “Scooter” Clark. “Basically, it is showcasing the talents of some great golf players and programs in an event for which they otherwise would not get this same type of exposure.”
For the first time since 2005, B-CU swept the men’s and women’s titles for the national event. For the Wildcats women’s team, the title marked their Championship-record ninth crown overall, and the second consecutive. The men’s team title was the first of its kind since 2011 when they were led by then-freshman Matthew McKnight, who also laid claim to the individual title that same year.
“To win both the men’s and women’s titles was a huge accomplishment for us,” said Clark. “It was a huge sense of pride and an accomplishment for our men’s and women’s teams to build upon for next year.”
