Stoute Finishes Seventh in High Jump at CAC Championships
MORELIA, Mexico - Bethune-Cookman track & field senior-to-be Keron Stoute wrapped competition in the high jump finals at the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Senior Championships on Monday (July 8). Representing his home territory of the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Stoute finished seventh in the event.
Stoute advanced to the finals in two passes, reaching a career-best height of 2.08m (6-9.75 ft.). In the final, he hit a mark of 1.95m (6-4.75 ft.) to finish seventh in the high jump finals, overcoming meet technical issues which delayed his preparation.
“Sometimes things aren't going to go your way, but you have to figure out a new plan and move forward,” Stoute said. “All in all it was a great experience and I am forever grateful for the opportunity that was given to me.”
This was Stoute’s first appearance at the CAC Championships during his Bethune-Cookman career. Before becoming a Wildcat, he competed in the 2011 Pan American Games while representing BVI.
