@BCUHoops Welcomes Hofstra Transfer Daquan Brown
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman Men’s Basketball Coach Gravelle Craig announced today (September 5, 2013 ) that Daquan Brown has joined the Wildcats for the 2013-14 season.
Brown, a 6-10 senior from Brooklyn, NY, has one year of eligibility remaining after playing two seasons at Barstow (Calif.) College and at Hofstra last year. He’s already earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and will work on a Master’s Degree at B-CU.
“Daquan is an active '4’ man with good length. His size will allow us to match up with bigger/taller teams in our league,” Craig said. “He has a high basketball IQ and can score out to 12 ft. He is also an experienced player that played in a tough conference. He makes us bigger and better.”
At Hofstra, Brown appeared in 21 games during the 2012-13 season and was a two-time Colonial Athletic Association All-Academic selection.
During his sophomore season at Barstow College, Brown averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks per game. As a freshman, he averaged a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
He attended Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, NY and helped his team to a pair of PSAL championships. Lincoln also produced NBA players Stephon Marbury, Sebastian Telfair and Lance Stephenson.
Bethune-Cookman, which advanced to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament semifinals last year, opens its 2013-14 schedule on November 9 against Trinity Baptist in Historic Moore Gymnasium.
