Seven Wildcats Named MEAC Cross Country All-Academic
Of those named, four represented the Wildcats’ men’s team and three were from the women’s squad. Those student-athletes are Morgan Brown, Ricy Brown, Chris Collins, Nnamdi Davis, Jessica DeRoux, Kevin Lewis and Kirsten Taylor, as B-CU’s first All-Academic honorees of the 2013-14 school year.
"It brings great distinction to our program to have seven of our cross country student-athletes be recognized for their success academically," Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Donald Cooper said. "This is an increase from last year and I want to congratulate Ricy, Chris, Nnamdi, Kevin, Kirsten, Jessica and Morgan for their achievement."
"I also want to thank our athletics department academic support staff, professors and administrators for their contribution to the academic success of our student-athletes," Cooper continued. "We look forward to coupling the success in the classroom with success on the course."
The MEAC will host the 2013 Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 26 at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in Princess Anne, Md.
The championships will begin with the women’s five-kilometer race at 9:45 a.m., followed by the men’s eight-kilometer race at 10:30 a.m. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, MEAC student-athletes will wear pink racing bibs, while the head coaches will wear pink ribbon pins during the competition. The MEAC encourages fans to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
