MIROMAR LAKES, Fla. – Sophomore Ryan Fricker recorded his third under-par tournament of the year on Monday, finishing in a tie for seventh place to lead the Bethune-Cookman men’s golf team to a third place appearance at the Cobra PUMA Invitational. The two-day event took place at the Miromar Lakes Golf Course and was hosted by Xavier University.

Fricker, a native of Ivybridge, England and NCAA Regional participant a season ago, finished the three-round tournament with scores of 74, 72 and 68 (214 total), respectively. He would finish with a 2-under-par scorecard, and sit alongside Matt Cote (Florida Gulf Coast) and Gregory Podufal (Georgetown) in a tie for seventh place overall.

Senior Emmanuel Petrich (72-75-70=217, +1) finished just three shots back of Ryan Fricker, tied for 13th overall.

Sophomore Leon Fricker (74-71-78=223, +7), the leader for the Cats on Sunday, dropped from 11th place on Sunday, down to a tie for 30th Monday. The younger of the two Fricker brothers turned in a 6-over-par card in the final round.

Senior Matthew McKnight (72-76-76=224, +8) finished tied for 33rd after a pair of 4-over rounds, followed by classmate Rafael Abad (81-82-69=232, +16) in a share of 57th. Abad fired his best round of the year through the final 18 holes, finishing with a 3-under-par score. He bested his previous low round of 71 in the final round of the season-opening event at the Rutgers Invitational.

As a team, Bethune-Cookman (292-294-283=869, +5) turned in its third top five finish of the campaign with the third place appearance on Monday. The Wildcats were just a stroke behind second place competitor Florida Atlantic (291-292-285=868, +4), while Florida Gulf Coast (282-286-287=855, -9) claimed the team trophy.

B-CU gets back out on the links next week at the nearby Stetson/CFSC Invitational in DeLand, Fla. The event runs Nov. 4-5, and is hosted by Stetson University.
