Williams Named MEAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week
NORFOLK, Va. - For the third time this season, Bethune-Cookman track & field has earned weekly conference accolades for its indoor performances, as officials from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced on Wednesday (Feb. 12) that Ed’Ricus Williams has been named MEAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Williams (Fr., Warrenton, Ga.) earned third in the high jump at the Armory Collegiate Invitational last weekend in New York, competing against elite eastern talent. Capping his height at 2.06m (6-09.00 ft.), the B-CU rookie climbed to the top of the MEAC standings, ranking first in the conference heading into the MEAC Indoor Championships, which begin Thursday (Feb. 13).
In January MEAC Men’s Field honors went to freshman Kenneth Fisher, and Deidra Jordan earned Women’s Field honors for her Pentathlon performance at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational.
This is Williams’ first career conference honor.
The MEAC Indoor Championships run from Thursday to Saturday at the Prince George's Sports Complex in Landover, Md.
