@CatsTennis Match Day: Northern Kentucky

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman will hold its Tennis Senior Day Saturday prior to both teams’  regular season finale against Northern Kentucky at 10 a.m. at City Island Courts.

Santiago Lobelo from the men’s teams and Valentina Beresiarte and Elizabeth Nyenwe will be recognized.

MEN’S UPDATE: The Wildcats (4-17) are looking to snap a five-match losing streak … B-CU fell 4-3 to Florida A&M last week and will be the Southern Division’s third seed next week at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament;  Alvarro Barrera, Diego Garavito and Greg Almeida brought the Wildcats back to a 3-3 tie … Barrera is 12-8 in singles play, followed by Garavito at 10-8. Northern Kentucky (4-13) is a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference … the Norse lost their tenth straight Friday against North Florida.

WOMEN’S UPDATE:  Nyenwe was denied her 20th singles victory last week against Jackson State. She was leading her match, but play was stopped after the Lady Wildcats clinched the match with the fourth point … Mina Matsuba has won 13 straight and is 20-4 on the season. The Lady Wildcats (17-9) have won 14 of their last 16 and will enter next week’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament  as the number one seed from the Southern Division. Northern Kentucky (5-15) dropped its 12th straight Friday against North Florida
