114 Wildcats Named To MEAC All-Academic Team

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman placed 114 student-athletes on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s  Commissioner’s All-Academic Team, it was announced today (May 15, 2014.)

In all, 1,108 student-athletes from the conference’s 13 member institutions were recognized for their classroom achievements during the 2013-14 academic school recognizing year. The team honors student-athletes, including sophomores to seniors, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

Bethune-Cookman’s total of 114 student-athletes was third-best among the 13 member institutions, trailing just Delaware State (136) and Howard (131). Fifty-seven men and fifty-seven women student-athletes were recognized.

“I congratulate our student-athletes and the staff of our Office of Student-Athlete Support for another superb academic year,” said B-CU Athletic Director Lynn W. Thompson.  Our formula for success in athletics at B-CU is based on recruiting highly qualified student-athletes who are committed to victory in the classroom as the pathway to championships in their chosen sport. This data validates our goal of being one of the best programs in our league and beyond.”
