Edouard, Richardson Land on BOXTOROW Preseason Team
RALEIGH, N.C. – Bethune-Cookman University football seniors Andrew Edouard and LeBranden Richardson have each been named to the 2014 BOXTOROW Preseason All-America Team, announced Thursday morning by D Communications.
Edouard, already on the Beyond Sports Network and All-MEAC preseason teams, continues to pick up accolades prior to the 2014 campaign. The 2013 All-MEAC performer was instrumental for B-CU as an offensive center in his first year with the program, arriving to Daytona Beach from Lackawanna Community College. A 6-2, 295-pound senior from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Edouard played in all 13 games for the Wildcats, suiting up as a starter in 12 of those contests. The Overbrook High alum started the final 12 games of the season following the season-opener at Tennessee State as part of the John Merritt Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. He helped pave the way for a B-CU offense that led the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and ranked ninth in the NCAA with 3,159 yards rushing, averaging 243 yards per game. He would go on to claim his first national honor when selected to the BOXTOROW All-America squad following the FCS Playoff game at Coastal Carolina. The Wildcats averaged 29.6 points per game on the year – an offense that scored 39 times on the ground, as well as another 10 through the air. In total offense, the Wildcats were second in the league with 5,146 yards (395.8 per game).
Richardson, a member of the 2014 College Football Performance Award (CFPA) FCS Awards Watch List, is also on the All-MEAC Preseason Team entering the 2014 season. The Miami native earned All-MEAC Second Team accolades following the 2013 season, finishing second on the team and 39th in the MEAC for total tackles (64). The 6-4, 265-pound defensive end accounted for a team-leading 14.5 tackles behind the line, as well as a team second-best 4.5 quarterback sacks. He also amassed a team third-best four quarterback hurries and forced two fumbles. A 2012 transfer from UCF, Richardson has accumulated 117 tackles in his two-year career in Maroon and Gold. Since his arrival, he has led the Cats with 27.5 tackles for loss and is second on the squad with 13 sacks. He has started in 23-of-25 games for B-CU.
Former BOXTOROW Rookie of the Year quarterback Greg McGhee of Howard, North Carolina A&T sophomore running back Tarik Cohen, Tennessee State safety Daniel Fitzpatrick and Norfolk State linebacker Lynden Trail lead the list of the 28-man team.
This is the eighth year of the BOXTOROW preseason All-American team.
