DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Adrien Coleman’s 29 points led four Bethune-Cookman players in double figures as the Wildcats downed Volusia County rival Stetson 86-63 Monday night in Moore Gym.

Coleman, a 6-5 junior, was 13 of 14 from the field as the Wildcats (3-6) posted their best field goal percentage (63.5) since February 5, 2000, when they shot 60.3 percent from the field in a 94-75 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore.

Javoris Bryant added a career-high 17 points, and Paul Scotland and Kevin Dukes added 15 and 13 respectively to help B-CU end a three-game losing skid.

B-CU led from start to finish, scoring the first five points and taking a 13-3 lead on a Coleman jumper with 14:53 left in the first half. The Wildcats shot 69 percent from the field to take a 46-23 halftime lead.

Stetson (2-4) got no closer than 13 at 58-45 on an Aaron Graham jumper with 10:48 to play.

Adam Pegg had 17 for the Hatters, who dropped their third straight.

HEAD COACH GRAVELLE CRAIG

"This is a good win. Any time you can beat your rival is a good win. Stetson is a talented team; they just had an off night. Our defense had something to do with that."

"Defense initiated offense. We had some easy baskets off defense."

"Adrien is playing well. He's probably been our most consistent player this season. Transition’s his game."

ADRIEN COLEMAN

"Defense ignited offense. Coach said don’t worry about offense and the team bought into it. It’s easier to get in transition when we’re playing defense."

JAVORIS BRYANT

"This is the healthiest I’ve felt all season. Coach set me up to get looks and 15 footers I could knock down."

NOTES: B-CU defeated Stetson for the fourth consecutive time in Moore Gym dating back to 2008; the home team has won in this series the past eight meetings … This was B-CU’s largest margin of victory in the series … The Wildcats’ biggest lead was 25 at 42-17 on a Dukes 3-pointer with 2:49 remaining in the first half … Dukes was 4-6 from 3FG in the opening 20 minutes and extended his streak to 29 games with at least one from behind the arc … Coleman has now reached double figures the past 13 games; this was his fourth 20-point game of the season … B-CU is 3-0 when it scores 70 or more this season.
