WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Bethune-Cookman and Norfolk State tip-off the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament in its opening game Monday at 11 a.m. in the Joel Coliseum. The Lady Wildcats and the Lady Spartans are the eighth and ninth seeds.

THE WINNER GETS: A chance to upset regular season champion Hampton Wednesday at noon.

LAST MEETING: B-CU won the regular season match-up 83-73 on 2/27 in historic Moore Gymnasium behind 25 points from Demetria Frank and 24 from Jasmine Elum. Whitney Long had 32 for NSU.

ABOUT NSU: Long finished sixth in the conference in scoring with an average of 14.6 ppg. Rachel Gordon’s averaging 10.3 boards a night.

B-CU UPDATE: The Lady Wildcats enter the tournament on a two-game losing streak, but had won three of four before facing Hampton and Coppin State. Jasmine Elum leads B-CU with an average a 13.3 points per game.

FOLLOWING FRANK: The redshirt senior will set her fourth B-CU career Monday by appearing in her 121st game, breaking the old mark of 120 set by Sarah Bolden. Frank holds the record for steals, free throws made and free throws attempted. Frank has 97 steals on the season, 7 away from her school record of 104 set in 2007-2008.

ISAAC IN RANGE: Jalisa Isaac is currently 9th on the all-time scoring with 926 points and needs 13 to surpass 13 to pass Sarah Johnson.

B-CU IN THE MEAC: The Lady Wildcats are 15-28 lifetime in the tournament and 2-0 against NSU, falling 69-62 in 1999 and 60-51 in 2005. Under Vanessa Blair, the Wildcats are 2-3.
