TAMPA, Fla. – The Wildcats opened their weekend series with Mississippi Valley State with a 13-2 run-rule victory, Friday night at Magnolia Field.

The Wildcats (18-14, 9-2 SWAC) scored in five of seven innings, starting with a pair of runs in the second on a groundout and a MVSU error.
The Wildcats added another run in the third on an RBI line drive by
Jorge Braceras that scored Boris Pena.
Three runs followed for B-CU in the fifth on a double from
Robert Moya and a bases-loaded walk by
Jeremy Garcia that mde it 6-0.
The Delta Devils (10-24, 2-11) plated their only two runs in the fifth on a pair of solo homers.
The B-CU offensive onslaught continued in the sixth, as multiple MVSU errors and a a Braceras single added four runs for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats finished off the run-rule on a Moya single and Braceras double, scoring three runs to complete the 13-2 victory.
Nolan Santos earned the win. He was outstanding again in a complete-game effort, allowing only the two solo homers and three walks while striking out a season-high 13.
First pitch for game two is set for 2 p.m. EST tomorrow.
